During his free time, Dr. Zanger enjoys exercising, reading, and spending quality time with his family and friends.

Wayne Fowler, O.D.
Comprehensive Opthalmology
Dr. Fowler has been an optometrist for over 25 years, and after practicing for many years in the Merrimack Valley and Boston areas, one of his highest honors came in 2017 when Dr. Zanger invited him to join Cape Ann Eye Specialists. Since then, his time in Gloucester and Cape Ann has been some of the most enjoyable and professionally rewarding of his entire career.
Dr. Fowler developed an interest in eyes at an early age with annual visits to his own eye doctor. They were in an old Newburyport home that had a special warmth, character, and charm along with a kind and caring doctor that he found to be especially appealing. Today he tries to create a similar experience for his own patients.
His specific areas of interest include general and medical eyecare, diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, and emergency care. Dr. Fowler believes that kindness, compassion, and effective communication skills are the cornerstones of what truly defines an excellent doctor. His simple goal for every patient is to have them leave their exam feeling better and more comfortable than when they came in. His approach to achieving this goal is by listening carefully, by providing a very thorough, personalized, and informative exam, and by always making himself available to answer any questions and concerns. In his free time, he enjoys running, a good crime novel, a relaxing game of pool, or an even more relaxing glass of wine, or two.
